Just who does Godfrey Johnson think he is?
Tough question. Really it is, I’ve been working in Cape Town’s creative world for so long in so many capacities I’ve had to make flash cards to keep track of it all. I’m feeling a little shy now so I’ll hand over to Jon Keevy to carry on.
Ahem – Godfrey is a lover. A music lover, a lover of life, of pianos and lyrics and bursting flourishes on the ivories, of music notes marked down with cheap, rough bic pens on serviettes and scraps of papers, of the people who live from coffee cup to concert and back, who fall in love and have hearts broken and who weep over stars and the savagery of being alive, of the tender moments between fingers. A lover of being alive and the expression of music.
